HISTORY OF THE SKIT PROGRAM

Developed in 2019/20 by the Clackamas County Strangulation Response Initiative.

Materials funded by Clackamas County.

Based on SAFE Kits.

Purpose to close the gap between an assault and a victim receiving needed medical assessment and referrals to services and support.
Distribution

Produced first kits fall 2020.

Distribution began late 2020.

First kit completed with a patient January 2021.

As of January 2024, 29 facilities in 11 counties participate in the program.

Over 350 kits completed by the February 2024.

Tracking of SKIT use provided by Clackamas County Strangulation Response Initiative.

Ongoing training provided for law enforcement on strangulation, the strangulation supplemental and SKIT access.
